Non-cyclic Graph of a Group

چکیده
We associate a graph ΓG to a non locally cyclic group G (called the non-cyclic graph of G) as follows: take G\Cyc(G) as vertex set, where Cyc(G) = {x ∈ G | 〈x, y〉 is cyclic for all y ∈ G}, and join two vertices if they do not generate a cyclic subgroup. We study the properties of this graph and we establish some graph theoretical properties (such as regularity) of this graph in terms of the group ones. We prove that the clique number of ΓG is finite if and only if ΓG has no infinite clique. We prove that if G is a finite nilpotent group and H is a group with ΓG ∼= ΓH and |Cyc(G)| = |Cyc(H)| = 1, then H is a finite nilpotent group. We give some examples of groups G whose non-cyclic graphs are “unique”, i.e., if ΓG ∼= ΓH for some group H , then G ∼= H . In view of these examples, we conjecture that every finite non-abelian simple group has a unique non-cyclic graph. Also we give some examples of finite non-cyclic groups G with the property that if ΓG ∼= ΓH for some group H , then |G| = |H |. These suggest the question whether the latter property holds for all finite non-cyclic groups.

The Main Eigenvalues of the Undirected Power Graph of a Group
The undirected power graph of a finite group $G$, $P(G)$, is a graph with the group elements of $G$ as vertices and two vertices are adjacent if and only if one of them is a power of the other. Let $A$ be an adjacency matrix of $P(G)$. An eigenvalue $lambda$ of $A$ is a main eigenvalue if the eigenspace $epsilon(lambda)$ has an eigenvector $X$ such that $X^{t}jjneq 0$, where $jj$ is the all-one...
متن کاملThe Sum Graph of Non-essential Submodules
Throughout this paper, R will denote a commutative ring with identity and M is a unitary R- module and Z will denote the ring of integers. We introduce the graph Ω(M) of module M with the set of vertices contain all nontrivial non-essential submodules of M. We investigate the interplay between graph-theoretic properties of Ω(M) and algebraic properties of M. Also, we assign the values of natura...
متن کاملFinite $p$-groups and centralizers of non-cyclic abelian subgroups
A $p$-group $G$ is called a $mathcal{CAC}$-$p$-group if $C_G(H)/H$ is cyclic for every non-cyclic abelian subgroup $H$ in $G$ with $Hnleq Z(G)$. In this paper, we give a complete classification of finite $mathcal{CAC}$-$p$-groups.
متن کاملOn the planarity of a graph related to the join of subgroups of a finite group
Let $G$ be a finite group which is not a cyclic $p$-group, $p$ a prime number. We define an undirected simple graph $Delta(G)$ whose vertices are the proper subgroups of $G$, which are not contained in the Frattini subgroup of $G$ and two vertices $H$ and $K$ are joined by an edge if and only if $G=langle H , Krangle$. In this paper we classify finite groups with planar graph. ...
متن کاملOn the Szeged and Eccentric connectivity indices of non-commutative graph of finite groups
Let $G$ be a non-abelian group. The non-commuting graph $Gamma_G$ of $G$ is defined as the graph whose vertex set is the non-central elements of $G$ and two vertices are joined if and only if they do not commute. In this paper we study some properties of $Gamma_G$ and introduce $n$-regular $AC$-groups. Also we then obtain a formula for Szeged index of $Gamma_G$ in terms of $n$, $|Z(G)|$ and $|G|...

Let $G$ be a non-abelian group and let $Z(G)$ be the center of $G$. Associate with $G$ there is agraph $Gamma_G$ as follows: Take $Gsetminus Z(G)$ as vertices of$Gamma_G$ and joint two distinct vertices $x$ and $y$ whenever$yxneq yx$. $Gamma_G$ is called the non-commuting graph of $G$. In recent years many interesting works have been done in non-commutative graph of groups. Computing the clique...
